Based in Hawke’s Bay , we can design and install sophisticated wiring solutions for any type of project, big or small, and are experts in security, audio, phone and data installation, switchboard manufacture, calibration and weighing systems, industrial automation and HVAC controls.
Our in-house skills allow us to take a project from costing and design, to installation and maintenance. We pride ourselves on being flexible and innovative to readily respond to our clients’ requirements.
Our electrical and technical servicing is available 24/7 throughout Hawke’s Bay. The weekday service electricians are backed by an afterhours roster of all of our electricians and technicians to ensure that any service calls are provided with a high level of support for most electrical breakdowns and repairs.

The electrical contracting division is one of the larger parts of Electrotech, combining Electricians, Apprentices, and Supervisors.
The main emphasis of this division is commercial and industrial design and installations both locally and throughout New Zealand. Our contracting team works in closely with all other divisions of Electrotech including electrical servicing, data and security and alongside our teams in Tech Mechanical and Firetech.
Electrical Engineering & Service
Electrotech has a number of Electrical Engineers and Technicians to cover process and automation requirements for factories and industrial sites. Electrotech Controls are an authorised dealer for Reliable Controls.
Customers include food processing plants, airports, hospitals, petro-chemical providers, tertiary institutions, Government and Defence Force buildings.
We provide a range of software configuration and programming including BMS software and hardware solutions from Reliable Controls for HVAC systems.
PLC system experience includes Rockwell, Omron, Siemens, and Modicon as well as a variety of SCADA systems.
Our team of highly skilled Electrical Engineers and Technicians work in closely with all other divisions of Electrotech, and with our teams at Tech Mechanical and Firetech Services, providing that “one call does it all” seamless service.
Security & Automation
The Tech Group of Companies Ltd is a member of the New Zealand Security Association (NZSA), and a Licence Holder for the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (PSPLA).
Our Security Technicians are highly experienced suppliers, installers and service providers of Security, CCTV and Access Control Systems for domestic, commercial and industrial sites. Each Technician holds current and valid Certificates or Approval from the PSPLA.
Specifically, we offer the following specialist services;
- Electronic Security intruder Alarm and Access Control solutions including products from all of the most significant providers from around the world. We supply, install and commission Automatic Gates, Barrier Arms and other locking systems to effectively secure and control access to your property.
- CCTV Solutions – We offer a complete service tailoring CCTV solutions to your specific needs. Our team can provide upgrade solutions for existing systems right through to the latest IP High Definition Camera Systems. We are agents for premium brands such as Avigilon and Panasonic along with other affordable brands like Dahua and HIK Vision.
- Complementing our Security Alarm installations, we also offer a 24-hour Monitoring ServiceIQP Registered for electromagnetic or automatic doors or windows – maintenance & reporting.

Switchboards
Electrotech is a builder of Switchboards including type tested Prisma, Cubic and GAEL.
We can design, cost, manufacture, install, commission, and maintain switchboards for all levels of industrial and commercial requirements. Specially designed boards for food industry, factory automation, and special applications are built in our workshop; these include power distribution, energy conservation types, stainless steel enclosures, motor control centres, and control boards.

Structured Data Cabling & Phone Systems
This division provides design, supply and installation and maintenance for structured data and fibre optic cabling.
We supply, install and maintain structured data cabling for total system solutions. We are approved installers of Commscope, Amp, Krone, Molex, Clipsal and MMC using Cat 5e, Cat 6/6A and Cat 7 copper and fibre.
We offer a Fibre Splicing & Testing service for both Multimode and Singlemode fibre.
Our Data Technicians carry out Certification testing and diagnostics of copper and fibre data cabling using Fluke DSX5000 approved equipment.
We are certified agents for the Installation and maintenance of Panasonic phone systems – both PABX and VOIP.
Weigh & Calibration
Our professional team of Technicians can provide you with a quality service for your Weighing, Calibration and Thermography requirements.
Weighing Systems
We can supply, install, service and calibrate all of your scales from Laboratory Analytical Balances through to Motor Truck Weigh Bridges including such brands as Mettler Toledo, Atrax, Analogue &Digital, Weightronix, and Ishida.
Our technicians are Accredited by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and are Approved Personnel for Verification & Certification of Trade Approved Scales for Retail Sales.
Calibration
We run a laboratory at our site for both Temperature and Pressure calibration. It provides traceability of measurement to recognised NZ National Standards and to the units of measurement realised at the NZ National Standards Laboratory.
We can also attend your site and carryout service, calibration and checks for your plant equipment.
Lighting Levels
We can verify LUX levels required for QA and Inspection work under MAF legislation.
Thermography
We are able to provide full Thermography Surveys of Factory, Commercial, Domestic Power Supplies, and Distribution Centres. We provide comprehensive reports in a Colour Printed Booklet format along with a PDF format on CD-ROM showing both Thermal and Life Images with actual temperatures highlighted. These are used for both insurance purposes and for maintenance staff.
